Development of Painless Vaccine Delivery Devices to Reflect Positively on Overall Sales

Increasing research activities for development of effective vaccines are estimated to rev up the adoption of vaccine delivery devices. Researchers Develop Pill-sized Device for Painless Vaccine Delivery

Conventional methods of vaccine delivery can be very painful and thus, increased attention is being paid to development of painless vaccine delivery devices. For instance, in March 2017, a team of researchers at the University of California developed a pill-sized cylindrical device called “MucoJet”. The device can administer vaccines through the inside of the cheek without pain or professional help. MucoJet has a bulb at one end, which when squeezed by patients, breaks a thin membrane. This membrane separates two compartments – one filled with dry chemical propellant and the other with water.

When these two substances mix, they react to produce enough pressure to push a small reservoir of vaccine out of the other end through a small nozzle. When held against the cheek’s inside portion, the nozzle jets the vaccine through the mucosal layer.
